Huang Yen-Shuo:
As mediators of five papers in a week, we had a hard time designing the discussion process. Firstly, it is not practical to assume that everyone can finish reading all the articles. That is to say, we have to drive a short review of each article to facilitate the deeper discussion. However, we still want classmates to share their point of view and learn from each other. Also considering the limitation of time, we decided to host a class discussion after our brief summaries of each paper. Then we throw out some questions we prepared that classmates can debate. In this process, I realized the importance of clarifying the questions so that everyone in the class from different background can unflod discussions in a clear and common base.
Loan:
after scanning all papers, we found that there are two review articles and three empirical ones, so we decided to discuss review articles first to provide some backgrounds and then based on that, we conducted discussions and group works on 3 empirical papers. We also used different forms of discussion with both individual and group works, photo voices to change the atmosphere and get students in discussion dynamically. Besides preparing some debating questions, we also listened carefully students opinions to have flowing questions and that would get more attention from students.
Yang, Szu-Cheng:
It is a new experience that I’ve never leaded the whole class making discussion before, and also the amounts of the paper are large for all of us doing good review. So in this case, we want the class to separate into several groups, reading different papers. Through discussion with Loan, we decided to have photo voices activity after review articles and empirical papers for a better understanding of the classmates’ opinion.
